Job Title: Play and Learn HUB Assistant

FLSA Status: Part-Time Non-Exempt

Reports to: Play and Learn HUB Lead

Pay Rate: $15.00

Hours: 20-25 Hours per week Revision Date: May 2023

Schedule:
Monday: 3pm-7pm
Tuesday: 3pm-7pm
Wednesday: 9:30am-11:30am and 3pm-7pm
Thursday 9am-1pm and 3pm-7pm
Friday/Saturday/Sunday Closed.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for all activity of the Play and Learn area. Implementing safety procedures, staff morale, daily shift reports, and communication of new information to staff as well as communicating with parents.

Supervision Exercised: Children in program.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires, but is not limited to, full range of body motion; manual and finger dexterity; eye-hand coordination necessary to perform record management; aerobic endurance; lifting of up to 50 pounds; and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a daycare setting with indoor and outdoor activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works as child watch team member alongside peers. Provide leadership by example of expectations. 2. Ensure child to staff ratios are maintained. 3. Provides direction and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the child watch areas. 4. Ensure that staff to child ratio is always within limits. 5. Interact with children: provide constant care in an efficient, safe, secure, and healthy manner. 6. Develops and implement hands-on activities which are age appropriate. 7. Assist with special activities as scheduled, community engagement events. 8. Assist with housekeeping / maintenance of all areas used to ensure cleanliness of activity areas. 9. Responsible for following up on an incident/accident report and reporting any major concerns to immediate supervisor. 10. Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents and staff. 11. Attend trainings as directed by Supervisor. 12. Dress according to staff policy. 13. Participate as an active member of the staff team providing feedback, input, and ideas to continue to provide a quality program. 14. Perform all other duties as assigned to meet the Family Y's mission and goals.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A proficient problem solver 2. Proficient at organizing, detail oriented, follow through focused 3. Ability to lead or participate in 30+ minutes of aerobic/fitness activities 4. Excellent communication skills 5. Reliable transportation

PERSONAL QUALITIES: 1. Ability to communicate and promote The Family Y Mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers, members, and the community at large 2. Display a leadership presence in all situations 3. Acts as role model for Character Development on and off the job 4. Self-motivator has high energy, and able to work independently or with little supervision 5. Be a team player understanding the operation of the Play & Learn area and the role of each staff person on site 6. Understand the effect of actions from individual in the Play & Learn area, the branch and/or Family Y association as a whole 7. Willing to accept change as an opportunity for growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 18 years old or older
  2. Minimum of High School Education; formal training in Early Education or Child Development preferred
  3. Able to practice professionalism, displaying confidentiality while learning, following, and enforcing, local Y and national guidelines related to internal policy
  4. Experience in working with school-age children or youth programs
