POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the District Vice President/Associate Branch Executive the incumbent develops, organizes and implements high quality program(s) in accordance with the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta's mission. Responsible for department budget, development and control. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with branch activities to meet YMCA objectives. To include Wellness and Membership.
  • Maintain a high profile among members for the purpose of being a role model of health and fitness.
  • Develop creative, innovative programs, training and classes within the wellness, group exercise and personal training.
  • Participate in Wellness Cabinet along with any other cabinets applicable to job description.
  • Research trends and organize equipment trials to continuously stay cutting edge in Wellness.
  • Stay educated on current certifications needed for wellness staff.
  • Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Manages Wellness and Membership departments and oversees the programming and operations of the Wellness and Membership departments.
  • Ensures high quality programs and establishes new and existing program activities.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Keep current, accurate records and rosters of all wellness programs.
  • Keep reports and log books related to the maintenance of all exercise equipment.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
  • Assists in budgets related to the position
  • Ensures programs operates within budget and that program fees are collected
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned branch facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  • Assists in recruiting and organizing training and meetings for volunteers.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of branch information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process scholarship applications.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner
  • Assist in the development and implementation of membership campaigns.
  • Attends Branch Board meetings.
  • Assists in the recruitment of Board members and key branch volunteers.
  • Attends association meetings as required.
  • Compiles branch statistics and surveys.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Actively participates and supports the annual scholarship campaign.
  • Complies with all DHS/CPI guidelines and requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two to three years' previous experience in program management
  • Two to four years' Family YMCA experience
  • Certifications requires within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, BBP, and First Aid
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


Position is in office environment and requires automobile travel to branches, training, seminars or workshops.
