POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director or Senior Program Director, the opening head guard provides excellent customer service while maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas. The opening head guard ensures the pool is opened every weekday at 5:00AM sharp with proper chemical balance, pump function, and staffing. They perform chemical inventory each week and have a basic understanding of the functions in the pump room and proper chemical maintenance. The lifeguard creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with the Family Y of Greater Augusta policies and procedures.

SHIFTS: Monday-Friday 4:45AM-10:00PM, including some Holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification
• CPRo/BLS, First Aid, AED
• Minimum 16 years of age
• Must complete successful background screening, which includes criminal and drug screening
