POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wilson Family YMCA is seeking a Massage Therapist who will offer safe and effective therapeutic massage/bodywork to address any specific needs of members and contribute to their total wellbeing. The Massage Therapist must be a self-starter with a commitment to displaying high standards of customer service and must follow appropriate procedures and protocols established by the field's Code of Ethics and the Wilson Family YMCA.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Occasionally requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is mainly in a gym environment. Position requires physical activity working with members. Minimal desk-sitting and administrative work required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform massage therapy for members to help relieve stress, reduce aches/pains and impact the overall feeling of well-being.
  2. Exhibit knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, myology, pathology, somatic, ethics, various massage/bodywork modalities, and apply accordingly.
  3. Maintain a professional relationship with clients/members.
  4. Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of work areas according to local, state and federal health and safety regulations.
  5. Collect receipts from members and hand in receipts on a weekly basis.
  6. Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services offered.
  7. Provide a high level of service with regards to members' needs, concerns, and questions about the YMCA, its programs and mission.
  8. Be punctual for all appointments and maintain necessary records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.  
  9. Maintain required licenses/certifications/continuing education hours.
  10. Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings.
  11. Support community and promotional special events as needed.
  12. Other activities and duties as needed that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
  13. Follow and maintain sanitary habits in accordance with CDC guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide 30-90 minute massages to clients by appointment
  2. Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massages would be most beneficial.
  3. Take a detailed client history and note any health conditions.
  4. Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body.
  5. Advise clients on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods.
  6. Suggest future massage appointments and regime to clients.
  7. Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire.
  8. Exercise cleaning protocols for treatment room to maintain a healthy work environment for both client and treatment provider.
  9. Attending and participating in meetings and training sessions.
  10. Assisting with cleaning activities of the treatment room in between sessions.
  11. Willingness to work in multi-modal, cooperative settings.
  12. Maintaining records and filling medical notes for each patient.
  13. Build and maintain your own massage schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (within 45 days)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Massage Therapist preferred.
  • Valid Georgia State massage therapy license required.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
