The YMCA is seeking a caring, organized, and dependable Cook/CACFP Lead to join our Child Development Academy team. This role is responsible for preparing healthy meals for children while ensuring full compliance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Georgia Child Care Licensing requirements, local health regulations, and YMCA policies.

What You'll Do
As our Cook/CACFP Lead, you will:
- Plan and prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and approved special dietary meals
- Develop menus that meet USDA CACFP nutrition standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary commercial kitchen
- Complete required CACFP documentation, including:
- Meal counts
- Production records
- Menus
- Attendance reconciliation
- Delivery receipts
- Ensure meals meet USDA reimbursable meal requirements
- Order food and kitchen supplies while managing inventory and minimizing waste
- Monitor food temperatures, storage, labeling, and receiving procedures
- Maintain audit-ready CACFP records and assist during state monitoring reviews
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs
- Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, vendors, and regulatory agencies
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, emergency drills, and YMCA events
- Support the YMCA mission and demonstrate the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- Minimum age of 21
- 3–5 years of institutional or childcare food service experience preferred
- Knowledge of USDA CACFP regulations, food safety, sanitation, and inventory management preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing as a team member
Required Upon Employment
- Pass Georgia criminal history and background check
- Maintain CPR, First Aid, AED, and Fire Safety certifications
- Complete required Bright from the Start training
- Complete 12 hours of annual Georgia-approved child care training
Physical Requirements
This position requires:
- Standing for extended periods
- Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and safe food handling
- Ability to assist children during emergency evacuations
