General Statement of Duties:  The Development Assistant will assist the Development Director with planning and implementing association special events, media relations, volunteer management, and publications.

 Status: Temporary, non-exempt                               

 Salary Range: $9-$11 hourly

 Supervision Exercised:  None

 Typical Physical Demands:  Generally, office work with minimal physical demand.  Must be able to drive and hold a valid driver's license. Must speak, understand and write English.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and able to stand for several hours. 

 Typical Working Conditions:  Functions primarily in an office setting.  However, position requires attendance at indoor and outdoor public events.  Typically, position will have a 25 hour work week Monday through Friday.  However, evenings and weekends will be required for some special events. This position will last approximately 24 weeks.

 Job Segments: 

  • Communicate and promote The Family Y mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers, members and the community at large.
  • Assist in planning and implementing association annual campaign events.
  • Assist in records management of annual campaign.
  • Assist in collecting annual campaign contributions from members and staff.
  • Assist in planning and implementing association fundraising efforts.
  • Represent the Family Y to media and at community outreach events.
  • Assist in create association-wide publications, posters and flyers.
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with all staff, volunteers and members.
  • Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • Actively participates and supports the annual campaign.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Performance Requirements:

  • Must have excellent verbal and demonstrated written communications skills.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft computer applications, specifically Excel.
  • Must be organized and have an attention to details.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must have dependable transportation.

 Education/Experience: 

  • At least 2-3 years' experience in fundraising role.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Some college with a focus in business preferred
