General Statement of Duties:  : In the absence of directors the Manager on Duty will be responsible for the overall supervision of the Wilson building and grounds to ensure that staff and volunteers follow safety standards, policies and guidelines of the YMCA. The Manager on Duty must maintain a high visibility in the facility and grounds.

Status:   Part Time Non Exempt

Hourly Rate:             $8.56-$11.98 

Supervision Exercised:  :  Will act as the "department supervisor" for all departments in the absence of any other higher-ranking director or coordinator.

Typical Physical Demands:   Requires, but is not limited to: Standing, sitting, and walking with minimum lifting (under 50lbs).

Job Segments:

  • Interpret, communicate and promote the Family Y mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers, members and the community at large.
  • Evaluates program areas and staff by completing Manager on Duty reports on every shift.
  • Enforce all policies and safety rules throughout the facility.
  • Ensures that all YMCA Program Staff are at their assigned posts and reporting any discrepancies (e.g., scheduling conflicts) to the proper program director.
  • Serves as first point of contact for all membership-related concerns, following up with the proper program director.
  • Hourly check and log of facility to include wet areas and locker rooms are clean.
  • Ensure weights and cardio equipment is clean.
  • Assist in giving tours to prospective members.
  • Responsible for building keys.
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with all staff, volunteers and members.
  • Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • Actively participates and supports the annual scholarship campaign.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Personal Qualities: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Education / Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have current CPR and First Aid.
  • Familiar with YMCA rules and policies with above average verbal communication skills.

Must be at least 21 Years of age
