 Job Title: Branch Director

FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt

Reports to: District Vice President

Leadership Level:  Team Leader

Starting Salary Range:  $41,600 - $46,800



This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Branch Director oversees and develops wellness and fitness programs including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The Director develops, plans, and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals in accordance with the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta's mission.

  • Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
  • Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities and grounds.
  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
  • Maintain a high profile among members for the purpose of being a role model of health and fitness.
  • Develop creative, innovative programs, training and classes within the wellness and group exercise areas.
  • Manage CORE for all Department Program Areas.
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise all wellness, fitness, and group exercise staff.
  • Oversee and design ongoing, up to date wellness and educational programs for adult members of all ages and physical conditions.
  • Develop and implement operation procedures for all aspects of the wellness center.
  • Keep current, accurate records and rosters of all wellness programs.
  • Keep reports and log books related to the maintenance of all exercise equipment.
  • Attends Branch Board meetings and works closely with the Board.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with all staff, volunteers and members.
  • Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA
  • Actively participates and supports the annual scholarship campaign
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four to six years' previous management experience
  • Three to five years' Family YMCA experience preferred
  • Certifications requires within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, BBP, and First Aid
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Budgeting experience
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community


  • Automobile travel may be required.
  • Early morning, evenings, and weekends as needed for program events.
