Position Summary: Under the direction of the Food Service Manager the incumbent is responsible for the receiving, distributing, sorting, and accounting for meals at designated sites and ensuring that the sites are operating in compliance with Summer Food Program and USDA guidelines.

 

Typical Physical Demands:   Physical stamina is required to tolerate continuous standing, stooping, reaching, grasping, kneeling, walking, bending, and lifting objects weighing up to 75 lbs.  Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.  Occasionally requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.  Requires the completion and acceptable results of a fingerprint check per the rules and regulations of the Summer Food Program.

 

Typical Working Conditions:  Duties are typically performed in areas related to cafeteria and kitchen and performed while walking or standing.  The ability to withstand temperature variances common to food service facilities is required. May require automobile travel to various branches, training, seminars and workshops. 

 

Job Segments:

  1. Observes and promotes safe work practices and procedures while maintaining sanitation and cleanliness in the food service area.
  2. Responsible for receiving, distributing, storing, and accounting for meals at designated sites.
  3. Verifies kitchen counts and accurately records on appropriate forms.
  4. Maintains food at proper temperatures.
  5. Assists in keeping the delivery bus clean and orderly.
  6. Assists the Food Service Manager with receiving and storing food in accordance with Program guidelines.
  7. Accurately completes and submits all required daily, weekly, and monthly food service reports.
  8. Adheres to uniform and personal hygiene requirements.
  9. Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  10. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or satisfactory completion of the GED.
  • One to three years' previous experience in cafeteria setting preferred.
  • Certifications required within 45 days of hire: CPR/AED, BBP, and First Aid
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business inventory software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Position requires a clear criminal background check to include an MVR (Motor Vehicle Report), if applicable
