Job Title: Prime Time Site Assistant

FLSA Status: Part Time, Non-exempt

Reports to: Site Director

Job Location: Richmond County Elementary Schools



This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Prime Time Site Assistant creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while creating a learning environment for students in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The Prime Time Substitute should teach and model the core values of respect, honesty, responsibility, and caring.

This position is seasonal, lasting August May during the school year. Hours are generally Monday-Friday in the afternoon between 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. with variations on school holidays and early release days.

  • Ensures staff/child ration is within limits at ALL times, keeping a consistent head count and communicating changes with other staff
  • Serves snack to children participating in the program
  • Implements and actively engages in prescribed daily plan of student activities
  • Implements and actively engages in special activities
  • Assists with site maintenance (bathroom, kitchen, cafeteria, activity area, playground, cabinet, etc.) and ensures cleanliness each day of areas used
  • Advises Site Director and Prime Time Metro office all child/parent/staff problems immediately and documents as required
  • Maintains open communication with children families, and school administration and refers all questions about the overall site (rules and regulation) to the Site Director.
  • Ensures that agreements between the Family Y Prime Time Program and school site Principal are followed. (i.e. Usage of school equipment and facility and cleanliness of areas used)
  • Attends Prime Time program staff meetings and any mandatory meetings for the Family Y staff
  • Certified and current at all times in CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety
  • Successfully complete 10 hours DHS training annually
  • Successfully complete YMCA School-Age Curriculum training
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Site Director, Area Coordinator, or Executive Director of Youth Development

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Minimum of high school diploma (required to provide proof upon hire).
  • Upon hire, completion of YMCA provided First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience working with school aged children preferred.
