POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Transportation Coordinator creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while coordinating and providing safe transportation of program participants to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates schedules for each bus driver according to branch and program needs.
  • Coordinates fleet maintenance.
  • Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies, procedures, and state laws.
  • Maintains bus in orderly and clean fashion.
  • Completes thorough checks before and after every trip, recording all information.
  • Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
  • Cleans bus out each day after last use.
  • Promotes safety at all times, keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
  • Announces bus rules prior to departure for each trip.
  • Develops friendly and positive relationship among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
  • Communicates regularly with other staff and supervisor.
  • Assists the Food Service Manager with receiving and storing food in accordance with Program guidelines.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CDL required.
  • High School Diploma or satisfactory completion of the GED.
  • Three to five years' previous experience driving preferred.
  • Certifications required within 60 days of hire: CPR/AED, BBP, and First Aid
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Position requires a clear criminal background check to include an MVR (Motor Vehicle Report)
