Under the supervision of the Facilities Director the Building Maintenance Technician actively assists in the performance of repairs, preventive maintenance, cleaning and upkeep of equipment, buildings and grounds for all areas and programs of The Family Y.

Typical Physical Working Conditions: Ability to bend, stand and walk on leveled and uneven surfaces for extended period of time. Normal, or corrected to normal vision and hearing.

Typical Working Conditions: indoor and outdoor job functions in all types of weather conditions. Business and after business hours required.

Job Segments: include, but are not limited to,

  • Performance of routine repairs, preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment, buildings and grounds in a timely manner.
  • Assisting in the repair of all equipment as necessary (including fitness equipment, pool equipment, youth sports equipment, lawn equipment and vehicles).
  • Performing cleaning preparation on assigned maintenance tasks to include clean up when tasks are completed (light fixtures, walls, floors and fixtures, etc.).
  • Identifying and reporting all safety related issues to the VP of Facilities for corrective measures.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports to include maintenance requests and receipts for supplies for work performed.
  • Actively assists other maintenance staff as needed.
  • Supervises, as assigned, all part-time, community service, or volunteer personnel assigned to duties in the realm of maintenance.
  • Communicates and promotes the Family Y Missions, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers, members and the community at large.
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with all staff, volunteers and members
  • Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Actively participates and supports the annual campaign
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with painting, plumbing, and minor electrical repair preferred
  • Experience with pool maintenance and operations or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) a plus.
  • Mechanical skills necessary to evaluate and repair if possible
  • Carpentry skills necessary to make repairs and construct small projects as necessary
  • Ability to drive a straight shift vehicle

Compensation: $12.00 / Hourly
