Job Title: Camp Housekeeping Staff

FLSA Status: Seasonal, Part-Time, Non-exempt

Reports to: Camp Lakeside Executive Directors

Revision Date: January 2020




This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Camp Lakeside Housekeeping staff create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while completing the daily operations of the camp while camp is in session. The Housekeeping Staff for Camp Lakeside performs duties according to all state, federal, and YMCA policies and procedures.

  • Maintains cleaning and sanitation of all camp buildings and restrooms.
  • Sweeps and mops common areas and hallways of buildings daily.
  • Takes trash out daily.
  • Cleans showers and toilets daily.
  • Wipes down surfaces and windows daily.
  • Maintains cleaning check list daily.
  • Maintains cleaning supplies.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Effectively and efficiently resolve member problems and complaints and communicate issues immediately with management
  • Effectively manage stock of essential cleaning and sanitizing products to ensure availability and cost control
  • Responsible for immediately reporting and documenting any observed or known safety hazards, conditions, or unsafe practices and procedures
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with all staff, volunteers and members
  • Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • Actively participates and supports the annual scholarship campaign
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one year in a housekeeping role
  • High degree of human relation skills, ability to effectively communicate and manage information to management and members
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective management skills
  • Ability to modify for special needs of campers
  • Ability to assist campers in an emergency

  • Physically perform all skills required of a nutrition manager
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
