Position Summary: Under the direction of the Program Manager the incumbent is responsible for following the menu, inventory of food/supplies, directing those that are bagging while keeping the unit in compliance with Summer Food Program and USDA guidelines. This position is dependent on the SFSP grant.  Grant is approved thru June.

Supervision Exercised: 3+ part-time staff including Food Prep Assistants

Typical Physical Demands:  Physical stamina is required to tolerate continuous standing, stooping, reaching, grasping, kneeling, walking, bending, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.  Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.  Occasionally requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.  Requires the completion and acceptable results of a fingerprint check per the rules and regulations of the Summer Food Program.

 

Typical Working Conditions:  Duties are typically performed in areas related to cafeteria and kitchen and performed while walking or standing.  The ability to withstand temperature variances common to food service facilities is required. May require automobile travel to various branches, training, seminars and workshops.  Lifting 75lbs & up.

 

Job Segments:

  1. Observes and promotes safe work practices and procedures.
  2. Directs the preparation of pre-packaged food for lunches and snacks for the children in the CSRA.
  3. Ensures compliance with USDA and State and Health Regulations for Child Nutrition Programs.
  4. Plans food bagging for the following week.  Including knowing the number of meals to be made and how many go out to each site. Loading busses with correct amount of meals.
  5. Coordinates with the Planning manager for inventory availability and menu updates.
  6. Assesses the appropriate quantity of food needed, prepares bags, and coordinates delivery according to projected meal count.
  7. Supervises food service functions to ensure that food is bagged in a safe and sanitary environment.
  8. Provides instruction, directs and organizes the responsibilities of other food service workers.
  9. Properly maintain storage of prepared meals with correct labels with counts of meals in each storage container.
  10. Accurately completes and submits all required daily, weekly, and monthly food service reports.
  11. Communicates effectively with the Program Director keeping them informed of operational concerns.
  12. Adheres to uniform and personal hygiene requirements.
  13. Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  14. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience:

  • ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate preferred.
  • High School Diploma or satisfactory completion of the GED.
  • Three to five years' previous experience in cafeteria management preferred.
  • Certifications required within 45 days of hire: CPR/AED, BBP, and First Aid
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively manage others.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Position requires a clear criminal background check to include an MVR (Motor Vehicle Report), if applicable
