Position Summary:
Responsible for all activity of the Kids Watch area of the Marshall Family Y Branch. Implementing disciplinary procedures, staff morale, daily shift reports, and communication of new information to staff as well as communicating with parents/ members.
Job Segments:
- Works as child watch team member along side peers. Provide leadership by example of expectations.
- Schedule: Evenings
- Training: Provide hands-on training and guidance for new team members with information that was learned in previous child care classes. Ensure consistency of information and work standards.
- Provides direction and oversight of the day to day operations of the child watch areas.
- Ensure that staff : child ratio is within limits at all times.
- Interact with children: provide constant care in an efficient safe, secure and healthy manner.
- Develops and implement hands-on activities which are age appropriate.
- Assist with special activities as scheduled; including Parent's Night Out and Birthday Party activities.
- Assist with housekeeping / maintenance of all areas used to ensure cleanliness of activity areas.
- Responsible for following up on an incident/accident reports and reporting any major concerns to immediate supervisor.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to meet the Family Y's mission and goals.
- Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents and staff.
- Attend trainings as directed Supervisor.
- Dress according to staff policy.
- Participate as an active member of the staff team providing feedback, input, and ideas in order to continue to provide a quality program.
Performance Requirements:
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Exercise mature judgment and sound decision making
- Consistently demonstrate positive communication: teach and redirect rather than scolding or reprimanding children
- Obtain 10 hours DHR approved childcare training annually
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid training within 30 days of hire
- Possess the ability to train others
Education/Experience:
- Must be 18-years-old or older
- Minimum of High School Education or General Equivalent Diploma; formal training in early education or child development preferred
- Be able to practice professionalism, displaying confidentiality while learning, following, and enforcing, local Y and national guidelines related to internal policy
- Experience in working with school aged children or youth programs
